What we Believe:

THE BIBLE

We Believe the Bible in its original documents is the inspired Word of God, the written record of His supernatural revelation of Himself to man, absolute in its authority, complete in its revelation, final in its content, and without any errors in its statements.  The bible is of supreme and final authority in matters of faith and practice. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 3:16.

Rose City Baptist Church uses the Authorised King James Version Bible for all ministries.

DOCTRINE OF THE GOD-HEAD

We believe that there is one, and only one, true and living God, infinite in every excellence; that in the unity of the God-Head there are three personal distinctions: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Gen 1:1-2, Math 3:16-17, John 14:9, 1 Tim 3:16.

GOD THE FATHER

We believe that God is a sovereign, living, intelligent and rational being.  He has a sovereign will, power and authority and is actively engaged in carrying out His will to completion.

Gen 18:25, Isa 57:15, John 4:24, Romans 8:28-30.

GOD THE SON

We believe that Jesus Christ is the second person of the triune God ,the only begotton Son of God who exists eternally with God and He is the Saviour whom God sent into the world, to redeem the world. John 1:1-34.

His Incarnation – We believe that he came to earth in the flesh by way of the virgin birth, being conceived in the womb of a virgin by the Holy Spirit. Isa 7:14, Math 1:18-25.

His Death -We believe that He died by way of crucifixion on the cross; that he died as mans substitute suffering the full wrath of God and thereby paying the penalty for mans redemption.  Matt 27:35-54, 1 Cor 15:3, 1 Peter 1:18-19.

His Blood – We believe that the blood of Christ is the only atonement for the sins of man and that it is sufficient to wash away the sins of every person.  Eph 1:7, Heb 9:22-26, 1 Jhn 1:7.

His Resurrection – We believe that He rose bodily from the tomb and through His resurrection there is a sure hope of immortality and everlasting life.  Luke 24:1-7, Romans 4:25, 1 Cor 15:4-9.

His Ascension – We believe He ascended back into Heaven and is now seated at the right hand of the Father, fulfilling His ministry as Mediator. (Lke 24:50-51, Acts 2:31-33, Heb 7:25, 1 John 2:1).

His Return – We believe in the personal, pre-tribulational and pre-millennial return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; His pre-tribulational return in the air for the church and His pre-millennial return to set up his Kingdom on earth.  Zech 14:1-9, 1 Thess 1:10, 5:9-11,2 Thess 2:1-8, Tit 2:13, Rev 3:10, Rev 4:1.

We also believe in the literal fulfilment of the prophecies and promises of the scriptures which foretell and assure the future regeneration and restoration of Israel as a nation.  Gen 13:14-17, Jer  30:6-11, Ezek 37, Rom 11).

Christ as Head of the Church – We believe in the Lordship of Jesus Christ, that He alone is the Head of the Body the Church, into which all true believers are immediately baptised at the time of salvation by the Holy Ghost.  Acts 2:36, 1 Cor 12:13, Col 1:18.

GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person equal with the Father and the Son and of the same substance and nature, He is the agent of the new birth, through conviction and regeneration and that at that time He seals, indwells and baptises every believer into the Body of Christ.

We believe that the Holy Spirit fills, empowers and distributes service gifts to believers, but that the sign gifts were restricted to the Apostolic Period.   Jhn 3:5-7, 14:16-17, 15:26, 16:13-14, Romans 8:9,  12:6-8, 1 Cor 12:13, 13:8-13, 2 Cor 13:14, Eph 2:20, 4:11-12.

SATAN

We believe in the personality of Satan, that he is not merely an abstract power or influence, but a living, personal being; that he is the god of this world and the prince of the power of the air; that he is constantly going up and down the earth seeking whom he may devour.  He does not possess the attributes of God.  Satan is the author of sin and he and his angels shall be eternally punished in the lake of fire. Gen 3, Job 1:7, Isa 14:12-15, Ezek 28:13-17, Matt 25:41, Lke 22:31, 1 Pet 5:8, Rev 20:10.

We further believe that it is not possible for true children of God to be indwelt or possessed by demonic spirits, but may through acts of disobedience, subject themselves to demonic influence. Eph 1:14, 4:30, 1 Cor 6:19-20, 1 Jhn 4:4.

CREATION

We believe in the literal interpretation of the Genesis account of creation, that all that came into existence was brought forth by a direct act of God and not by evolution. Gen 1:2, Exod 20:11, John 1:3, Col 1:11-17, Heb 11:3.

CREATION OF MANKIND

We believe that mankind was created by God for the purpose of fellowship with God and bringing honour and glory to His name. Col 1:16, 1 Cor 10:31.

FALL OF MANKIND

We believe that man was created in the image of God. While in a state of innocence, man voluntarily sinned and thereby not only incurred physical death, but spiritual death, which is separation from God; that all human beings are born sinners with a sinful nature. Gen 1:26-27, Deut 1:39, Isa 53:6, Rom 3:2-10, 3:23, 5:12.

SALVATION

We believe that in order to be saved, sinners must be born again; that the new birth is new creation in Christ Jesus; that it is instantaneous and not a process, neither is it by works of man, because mans righteousness is as filthy rags in His sight.  In the new birth, the one dead in trespasses and sins is made partaker of the divine nature and receives eternal life, the free gift of God.

Isa 64:6, Jhn 3:3, Rom 6:23, 11:6, Gal 2:16 Eph 2:8-9, Col 2:13, Titus 3:5-6.

ETERNAL SECURITY

Every true child of God possesses eternal life, being justified by grace through faith and is sealed with the Holy Spirit, is safe and secure for all eternity and cannot lose his salvation.  Rom 8:35-39,

1 Cor 5:1-5, 11:30-32, Heb 12:5-11.

SOUL LIBERTY

We believe in the soul liberty of every individual.  That every person has the right to correctly interpret the scriptures for himself and will answer to God for the way in which he does. He has, as a believer the Holy Spirit to guide and enable him apart from any other ministry of man or the church. Rom 14:5, 1 Cor 2:9-14, 2 Tim 2:15, 1 Jhn 2:27.

RESSURECTION AND JUDGEMENT

We believe there will be a resurrection of the saved and of the lost; of the saved unto eternal life and of the lost at the Great White Throne Judgement to receive their final eternal conscious punishment. Dan 12:2, Matt 25:34-46, 1 Cor 3:11-15, 15:51-55, 2 Cor 5:10, I Thess 4:13-18, Rev 20:5-15.

THE CHURCH

We believe what is normally referred to as the universal church is in reality, the Body of Christ and that it is a new testament organism.  It was established by Jesus Christ who is it’s sole head, revealed through the apostles, empowered and perpetuated by the Holy Spirit, composed of all born again believers in Christ, both Jew and Gentile and called out from the world.  Matt 16:17-18, Acts 1:8, 1 Cor 12:12-27, Eph 3:21, 5:23 1 Thess 4:13-18.

LOCAL ASSEMBLY

We believe in the importance of the local church, that it is an assembly of born again baptised believers, united in organisation to practice new testament ordinances, to meet together for worship, prayer, fellowship, teaching and a united testimony; and to actively engage in carrying out the Great Commission.  It’s scriptural officers are Pastors and Deacons, whose claims and duties are clearly defined in the epistles to Timothy and Titus. Matt 28:16-20, Acts 13:1-3, 16:5, 1 Cor 11:2, 1 Tim 3:1-13, Tit 1:5-9.

THE GOVERNMENT OF THE LOCAL CHURCH

We believe that the local church has the absolute right to self-government, free from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organisations.  Acts 11:22, 29-30, 13:1-3, 15:22, Rom 15:26, 16:1-2, 2 Cor 9:8-9.

THE ORDINANCES OF THE LOCAL CHURCH

We believe that the ordinances given to the local church are two: baptism and the Lord’s supper.

Baptism is by immersion of believers, thus portraying the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.   The Lords supper is the partaking of the bread and the cup by believers as a continuing memorial of the broken body and shed blood of Christ until He returns.   Matt 28:19-20, Acts 2:41-47, 8:26-39, 1 Cor 11:2, 23-34.
